Kilter Miles for Meaning Challenge

Please join the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s in the 2021 Miles for Meaning Challenge! The team with the most miles from March 1-31, 2021 will win a minimum $25,000 donation. The challenge is free to join – just download the Kilter Rewards app and track your miles each day. There are also individual prizes throughout the challenge as well.

Congratulations 2020 (FIRST PLACE WINNER) Jamen Spitzer!

From December 8-14, 2020 Kilter Rewards kicked off the Miles for Meaning Challenge with the Captain’s Challenge competition. The challenge was who could run the most miles in one week – each team had one representative. The Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s was represented by Team 23 superstar Jamen Spitzer who won FIRST PLACE with a whopping 154 miles run in just one week. That included 2 full marathons (one day over 30 miles!) and even a personal best time. Jamen – we are so proud of you and thank you for all that you do with us in the fight against Parkinson’s! Detroit News Holiday Cheer for Charity 2020!

The Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s is participating in the 2020 Detroit News Holiday Cheer for Charity program! You can vote for the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s from November 18th through December 2nd – you can vote once per day! The Top 5 charities move on to the final round beginning December 9th and compete for the top prize of $20,000. You can vote here and read more about the program here!

The 2020 Detroit Marathon has gone virtual

Update: The 2020 Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Marathon will be run virtually due to COVID-19.

We are pleased to announce that we are a charity partner for the Virtual Detroit Free Press Marathon Weekend October 16-18. Whether you run the Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k, 1M or Kids’ run you can be part of the inaugural Team 23 team. You can register at freepmarathon.com and be sure to choose “Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s” when asked if you would like to run on behalf of a charity.

A Smashing Success – 2019 Everybody Vs. Parkinson’s Gala!

On October 19th, the Everybody Vs. Parkinson’s Gala was held at the Motor City Casino Hotel.  In collaboration with the Michigan Parkinson Foundation and our title sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan we raised over $1.5 million towards Parkinson’s programs and research.  Attendees included Kirk and JoAnn Gibson, Dan J. Loepp (CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan) with his wife Amy, Jeff Laethem (President Michigan Parkinson Foundation) and his wife Alysia, Tigers greats Alan Trammell, Jack Morris, Lance Parrish, & Dave Rozema, and hockey Hall of Famer and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman.  The evening was emcee’d by Emmy award winner Teresa Strasser and included a strolling dinner, live auction and dancing to Your Generation.
